King’s College London offers CSSS 2026 Commonwealth Shared Scholarship

This fully-funded postgraduate scholarship is offered to citizens of an eligible Commonwealth country. The CSSS supports scholars’ tuition fees, living costs and travel abroad enabling them to undertake one of four specialist master’s programmes in health, mental health, palliative care or clinical research.


Overview of the CSSS 2026

The CSSS is delivered jointly with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC). Its objective is to train future leaders and scientists, capable of solving the challenges related to global sustainable development. At King’s, the scholarship provides a funding opportunity for campus-based master’s studies and is coordinated with educational leaders in the Commonwealth.

• MSc Mental Health Studies
• MSc Global Mental Health
• MSc Palliative Care
• MRes Clinical Research


Who Can Apply?

ELIGIBILITY:

To apply for CSSS 2026, an applicant must meet all of the below criteria:

• A Citizen, Refugee, or British Protected Person from an eligible Commonwealth country.
• Resident of that country at the time of application.
• A second-class honours degree (2:1 or above). Applicants with a 2:2 Honours classification will need to hold a related postgraduate qualification.
• Able to begin full-time studies in the UK no later than September 2026.
• No study or work/employment in a high-income country for more than one academic year for which we have received an application.
• No scholarship to study in UK.
• Not studying for, nor previously have held a Commonwealth scholarship at King’s.
• Meeting King’s College London English language requirements.

• Full tuition fees.
• Living costs (approximately £1,452–£1,781 per month stipend).
• Return airtravel at the commencement and conclusion of the programme.
• Grants for studying and clothing essential academic supplies.


How to Apply

Here’s what you need to do to submit your application for CSSS in just four easy steps:

  1. Ensure you meet all eligibility requirements and choose your Master’s programme.

  2. Complete an online King’s College London admissions application by 12 January 2026.

  3. Submit directly to Commonwealth Scholarship Commission through its Electronic application system along with the necessary documents.

  4. And wait for King’s to put forward successful candidates to the CSC. Final awards will be made to only those nominated applicants.


Required Documents

Below are requirements for both your Kings admission and CSC scholarship applications:

• Passport or national identity card (evidence of citizenship/refugee status).
• Degree transcripts and certificates.
• Statement of purpose describing academic history, career objectives and vision of expressing influence.
• Two academic references.
• English language test certificate.
• Evidence of domicile in a qualifying Commonwealth country.
• Proof of financial support (bank statements or sponsor letters).


Important Deadline

January 12, 2026: Online admissions application deadline.
10 March 2026: King’s provides nominations to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
July 2026: Notification mailed to winners and alternates.
