Who Can Apply?
Eligibility For you to be eligible toโapply for the DAAD Scholarship 2026, you need to:
โข Have earned a first degree qualifyingโyou for your chosen course of study before October 2026.
โข Be admitted or registered in postgraduate Masterโs orโdoctoral studies at a German state or state-recognised university.
โข Showโan outstanding study performance and high motivation.
โข For PhD candidates: conduct independent research or participate inโa strctured doctoral programme.
โข Haveโworked professionally for at least 2 years in development fields, including doctorate holders applying for a Master degree course.
โข Demonstrate languageโskills in German (minimum level B1) or English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).
โข Be currentlyโresiding in your home country or country of study when applying.
Special circumstances (e.g. disability, caring forโdependents, refugee status) may also be relevant. There is a not hard and fast upperโage limit, although some schemes impose their own limits.

Please note: There areโhardly any tuition fees at German universities, thus DAAD support only includes a living and travel allowance.

โข Submit your documents in the required format and language (German orโEnglish).

โข If short-listed, be available for interviews or further information on dates and timesโabove.

โข 2โโ 3 academic references (PhD two of which must be from PhD qualified supervisors).
โข Certificatesโof language (German or English) as specified in the programme.
โข A researchโproposal or statement of purpose for candidates pursuing a doctorate.
โข Documented evidence of professional experience (certificatesโfor employment), if available.
โข Copy of passport and personalโdocuments.
โข Depending on your situation, other documentsโ(such as medical certificates or family status proofs) might be required.
