Who Can Apply?

Eligibility For you to be eligible toโ€‚apply for the DAAD Scholarship 2026, you need to:

โ€ข Have earned a first degree qualifyingโ€‚you for your chosen course of study before October 2026.
โ€ข Be admitted or registered in postgraduate Masterโ€™s orโ€‚doctoral studies at a German state or state-recognised university.
โ€ข Showโ€‚an outstanding study performance and high motivation.
โ€ข For PhD candidates: conduct independent research or participate inโ€‚a strctured doctoral programme.
โ€ข Haveโ€‚worked professionally for at least 2 years in development fields, including doctorate holders applying for a Master degree course.
โ€ข Demonstrate languageโ€‚skills in German (minimum level B1) or English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).
โ€ข Be currentlyโ€‚residing in your home country or country of study when applying.

Special circumstances (e.g. disability, caring forโ€‚dependents, refugee status) may also be relevant. There is a not hard and fast upperโ€‚age limit, although some schemes impose their own limits.
