The scholarship Austria The 2026 Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) Scholarships is a full scholarship for students from developing countries to undertake a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITH) in Salzburg, Austria. In place September 7, 2026, to May 30, 2027 and embedded in internships in Austria’s hospitality industry the program marries academic theories with practical experience in the classroom. Its objective is to promote sustainable tourism practices and offer an opportunity for economic development in countries home scholars’.


Eligibility Criteria

2026 ADC Scholarship

To be eligible for the 2026 ADC Scholarships, applicants must:

• Be a national of an ADC priority or other OECD-DAC–listed developing country
• Have access to high-speed internet connection and be in possession of a higher education qualification (GCE A-Level equivalent) or have completed 3 years at a university
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in tourism or hospitality (hotels, travel agencies, tour operations etc.)
• Be 20 to 35 years old at the time of application
• Be able to provide proof of an English language test that meets the CEFR B2 level, or submit a valid international English certificate (if not native)
• Demonstrate high motivation, good organization and readiness to exercise in cross-cultural environment by the cover letter and any multimedia presentation if requested


Scholarship Benefits

ADC Priority list 

Scholarship holders from ADC priority countries receive:

• Tuition for the ITH Salzburg diploma study programme
• On campus or local accommodation (housing is included)
• Monatliches Lebenshaltungsstipendium von ca. €205
• One round trip economy class ticket to participant’s home country from Salzburg
• Full health insurance for the length of program
• Seven days a week, meals provided
• Structured educational trips (this does not include the field at ITB Berlin).

Partial scholarships for other developing-country fellows generally do not cover accommodation, airfare and visa fees.


Application Process

Applicants who wish to apply need to do so online via the ITH Salzburg platform from September 1, 2025, until January 6, 2026. Steps include:

• Signing up and registering at the ITH Application System
• Filling out the online application form and submitting all necessary documents
• Sending of a strong motivation letter explaining course expectation, the choice of specializing program (either Hospitality or Tourism Management) and their plan to apply what they have learnt
• Filming or giving an interview, if asked, to be used as a motivation video
• Submitting a complete application with the time of submission prior to the deadline, late or incomplete applications will not be eligible for consideration

Results will be communicated by email until April 2026. Accepted applicants are required to submit the admission fee of €1,500 (housing deposit and accommodation contribution) within two weeks upon acceptance in order to secure a place and begin visa processes.

The following must also be submitted:

• Evidence of higher education qualification or university degree
• A CV which provides information on one’s education and work history
• Minimum of one year’s professional relevant work experience
• Official certificate of English proficiency (non-native speakers)
• Statement of purpose explaining the interest in the program, and potential outcomes and dedication to sustainable tourism
• Letter(s) of recommendation from employers or professors (if possible)
• A photocopy of a current passport or national ID card

Supplementary materials (such as video presentations) may be requested, according to the application instruction.
